A directory is only worth as much as the process behind it. This page walks through that process for doctorbangladesh.bd — where each record originates, who reviews it before it goes live, what a verification badge does and does not prove, how a correction gets made, and why advertising never touches any of it.
1. What we are trying to do here
DoctorBangladesh.bd exists so that someone in Bangladesh looking for a consultant can compare real options — doctors, disciplines, hospitals, chambers — without guessing which of them is trustworthy. The point of this page is to be plain about where each type of information comes from.
- Directory records, written health content, patient ratings and paid placements are four different things and are never blended together.
- When something is shown to be wrong and better information exists, it gets fixed.
- Nothing on a profile page or in a health guide substitutes for being examined by a doctor.
2. Where a profile comes from
Being listed here does not by itself mean a doctor sent us their details, nor that anyone has verified them. Records reach the directory by several legitimate routes.
- Sent in directly by the doctor, an authorised representative, chamber staff, or a hospital.
- Compiled from professional and institutional information already published openly, with the originating page retained in our records where one exists.
- Brought in as a structured import, then normalised, filtered for records that are plainly not practitioners, and matched to the right discipline, hospital and district.
- Amended by an administrator on the strength of something a provider told us or another dependable source.
3. From submission to a published listing
A listing form asks for contact details, the BMDC registration number, degrees, discipline, workplace, chamber details, sitting hours and a photograph. Nothing goes live straight away — every submission waits in a moderation queue.
- A person, not a script, reads the submission and decides whether to approve or reject it.
- Going live and being verified are two separate decisions. A published profile can sit at 'verification pending' indefinitely.
- A badge appears only once the registration, hospital post or supporting document behind the chosen verification tier has actually been examined.
- Verification captures what the evidence showed on the day. It is not a recommendation, and it says nothing about whether that doctor suits your particular case.
4. Health writing and the sources behind it
Guides and explainer pages are written to inform, not to instruct. Where a page states a medical fact, a public-health position or a statistic, we work from current, reputable sources and name them wherever it is practical.
- We lean first on Bangladeshi health authorities, then established international agencies, then peer-reviewed literature.
- No page carries a 'medically reviewed' line unless the reviewer is named along with the credentials that qualify them.
- Promised outcomes, unsupported claims, and anything resembling a personalised dose or treatment plan have no place in our content.
- Any decision about your own treatment belongs with a doctor who knows your history.
5. Keeping records from going stale
Nothing in healthcare stays still. Chambers move, hours shift, fees rise, and doctors stop taking new patients. We rely on source refreshes, reviewed submissions, our own spot checks, and reports from readers to keep pace.
- Doctors, hospitals, representatives, patients and passers-by can all flag something that looks wrong.
- Before a correction is published it is checked against the provider, the institution, the original source, or other reasonable evidence.
- Errors that touch safety or identity jump the queue. We will not promise a deadline when the answer depends on someone outside our control.
- Where a source disappears or a practitioner can no longer be confirmed, the record is pulled from public results and held for review rather than quietly left up.
Report Something Wrong6. How results are ordered, and what that means
Search and suggestion features are there to get you to a relevant page quickly. Where a doctor lands in a list is not a clinical verdict on whether they are right for you.
- Ordering can take account of query relevance, discipline, location, profile completeness, verification, ratings, recency and what data exists.
- A badge does not buy the top slot, and an organic result is never sold as a medical endorsement.
- City and district pages are built from genuine chamber or hospital links, never from a job title or a stray mention in free text.
- We actively strip out duplicates, non-practitioner entries, wrong workplaces and anything else that could send a patient to the wrong door.
7. Advertising, and the wall around it
Advertising pays for the platform. It does not get a vote on what a profile says or whether a correction is made.
- Anything paid for is labelled as advertising or sponsored where it appears.
- Money cannot buy a verification badge, invent a credential, bury a legitimate correction, or turn an advert into medical advice.
- We turn down advertising that misleads, endangers, offends, or simply does not belong on a healthcare directory.
- Carrying an advert is not an endorsement of the product, treatment, medicine or practitioner in it.
8. Ratings and how reviews are handled
A patient can leave a star rating and written review along with their name, email and phone number. Those contact details exist to keep submissions honest and never appear in the public feed.
- Every review waits for a moderator; nothing appears the moment it is submitted.
- A matching email or phone against an existing review blocks a second active review for the same doctor.
- Reviews are refused or pulled for spam, impersonation, harassment, offensive language, undeclared conflicts of interest, or claims we cannot responsibly publish.
- An unflattering review is not deleted for being unflattering. A provider may report one for investigation, but the outcome follows this policy, not the volume of the complaint.
- A visible rating may blend historical source ratings with reviews approved here. Only approved platform reviews feed the public review list and the recalculated score.
9. The medical caveat, once more
A listing, a badge, a star rating, a search position or an article on DoctorBangladesh.bd is not a medical recommendation and is no guarantee of the care you will receive. All of it is general information. Take symptoms, diagnoses, medicines and any change of treatment to a qualified physician. In an emergency, call emergency services or go to a hospital — do not sit and read a website.
